In the spirit of being thankful, and the pursuit of positive impact, the company embarked on a thanksgiving food drive to support the efforts of local Burlington, Ontario food banks. The company was broken into four teams, and each selected a captain in their own way. The decision had been made to make it a competition, with an unnamed reward to the team with the most food items raised.

My team, Team 3 (henceforth known as Team Alpha), selected me as their captain (I think that’s what happened) and when I realized the competition was under way…well I knew I had to do this right…

That night, I went home and told my kids what we were up to and they offered to assist. Then I hopped onto a retail website (no names, I don’t give endorsements) and proceeded to order a wide array of food items to be delivered to the office. A few days later, the truck arrived and a few members of Team Alpha helped me carry in the first round of goods.

The next morning I arrived with what my kids had collected, as well as a vast number of items my wife and kids had picked out at the store – we were set.

All of the visible food there, including in the Team Alpha barrel, is from Team Alpha. As for the competition, at last look one barrel has a broken elastic band in it…
There can be no doubt that Team Alpha has opened the competition with a crippling blow, and we are confident that the remaining teams will just crawl back into their respective holes. (Though we hope they do not).
